This weekend at BFC: Brother Outsider, Trustees, Sunday School and Worship!

Dear Friends:

Here is what’s happening at BFC this weekend:

1) Tomorrow, Friday, 2/28, is our monthly Friday Night at the Movies, with the 2003 documentary Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin. Rustin, an African American Quaker, was one of the seminal figures of the civil rights movement, as a close advisor to Dr. King and the architect of the 1963 March on Washington. Rustin was also open about his homosexuality in a period far less accepting than the present.

This time around we are privileged to have a very special guest: the film’s co-director, Nancy D. Kates, is a Berkeley resident and has offered to attend and participate in the discussion! Please come and meet Nancy and see her thought-provoking film.

See attached flyer for more details. As always, ADMISSION IS FREE! Refreshments at 6:30 PM, film at 7:00, discussion to follow.

2) On Sunday, 3/2, the Trustees Committee will start things off, meeting at 9 AM. Then, at 10 AM, our Sunday School classes for children and adults will meet, including the Quakerism/membership class. In meeting for worship at 11 AM, we will hear a message drawn from John 15, as we continue to consider discipleship and disciple-making. We will also sing, pray and wait together on the Lord. Fellowship time follows worship.

Note: the Missionary, Outreach and Christian Education committee will not meet this Sunday. At our last meeting we agreed to postpone to Thursday of next week, 3/6, at 2 PM at the meetinghouse. See you then!

Please join us as we gather!
