This weekend at BFC: Brother Outsider, Trustees, Sunday School and Worship!

Events, Movie Night
Dear Friends: Here is what's happening at BFC this weekend: 1) Tomorrow, Friday, 2/28, is our monthly Friday Night at the Movies, with the 2003 documentary Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin. Rustin, an African American Quaker, was one of the seminal figures of the civil rights movement, as a close advisor to Dr. King and the architect of the 1963 March on Washington. Rustin was also open about his homosexuality in a period far less accepting than the present. This time around we are privileged to have a very special guest: the film's co-director, Nancy D. Kates, is a Berkeley resident and has offered to attend and participate in the discussion! Please come and meet Nancy and see her thought-provoking film. See attached flyer for more details. As…

This Sunday @BFC: SInging Ensemble, carol singing, worship, PECSC Committee

Events
Dear Friends: I was just talking to a Friend who observed how feverishly both motorists and pedestrians seem to rushing about lately. I know that I certainly have been, as I try and get everything on my list checked off. There are so many things to get done, I am finding it a real challenge to keep some things from dropping off of it entirely--especially finding regular time to seek God's presence. It's one of the ironies of our age that Advent, a season which is supposed to inculcate patient waiting and anticipation, has been so overwhelmed by gift-buying and party-attending and a frenzy of so many other things. It's really difficult to refrain from doing and rushing, and simply wait. What's on your list this Christmas? I pray that…
