Wait! Listen! The time is near! We await God’s instructions for our lives. We eagerly look forward to learning more ways to serve God. Let God’s love flood through our service to others Open our hearts and spirits, O Lord, to hear your word.

This Sunday we welcome Friends from Whittier First Friends Church joining us for worship. Whittier is also a part of the Western Association of Friends along with BFC. We will be joining them at their Zoom worship service on Sunday June 7 at 11:00 AM.

Bible Study starts 7:30 PM on Tuesdays via Zoom. Bible Study is currently reading  Jesus, Christ and Servant of God: Meditations on the Gospel According to John by David Johnson.

Happy Hour – Friday June 5 from 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  Join us on the BFC Zoom for a time of hanging out, checking in and enjoying human interaction.

Annual Gathering for Sierra-Cascades Yearly Meeting of Friends will be virtual via Zoom due to the current pandemic. They are now accepting registrations for the sessions, which will be June 12-14, 2020. Please send an email to registrar@scymf.org with your name, email address, Church or Meeting affiliation if you have one, the names of your family members who will be online with you and which session(s) you plan to attend. Families and couples are asked to use one screen per family unit in order to help with logistics. You must pre-register to receive the Zoom link for any session. More information can be found on their website.

Census 2020: Don’t forget to respond to your notice either online, by phone or by paper form after April 8th. The census will only ask 9 questions and by law cannot be shared with anyone including ICE, the police, or other government agencies. An undercount will have a huge effect on our area. For example, if we have an undercount of 6% in Alameda County, the county will lose $1 billion over 10 years. For more information see the Census website.

Barclay College is offering a free summer course on “Centering Down in a Time of Frenzy.” It will be held June 8-28 through an online portal
which allows for flexible scheduling of reading and online discussion. Aaron Stokes, their Director of Online Learning, is the instructor.
This three-week course teaches the longtime Quaker practice of Centering Down as an alternative approach to the worries of the season. Contact Aaron Stokes at aaron.stokes@barclaycollege.edu to register.
