TUE 7:30 PM– Bible Study

With tongues of flame, the Holy Spirit descends to burn in our hearts anew. Like the rush of wind, we sense God’s presence blowing afresh throughout the world. Across the barriers of language and culture, Christ’s message of love and grace is heard. Divine Advocate, we seek your guidance as we search for the Spirit of Truth. Unite us, Holy Spirit!

Bible Study starts 7:30 PM on Tuesdays via Zoom. Bible Study is currently reading  Jesus, Christ and Servant of God: Meditations on the Gospel According to John by David Johnson. You do not need to have read or have a copy of the book available as we read a section and then discuss.

On Tuesday June 1 at 7:30 pm Bible Study will be starting a discussion of the book “Jesus and Nonviolence” by Walter Wink. In this book Wink argues that Christian tradition of nonviolence is needed as an alternative to the dominant and death-dealing powers of our consumerist culture and fractured world. While you can join Bible Study any time, the start of a new book is a great time to start attending.

FCNL’s next online Quaker Changemaker event: “Quakers Working in the Legislature.” will be May 26, 6:30-7:30 PM EDT and will focus on how Friends working in legislatures navigate their professional responsibilities while holding a Quaker faith identity. Speakers will share what it’s like to be a Quaker holding this kind of role and the opportunities available for people who want to work in the legislative policy arena. Speakers: Alicia McBride (Sandy Spring MM), Kate Gould (FMW), and Erinn Camp Mansour (Sandy Spring MM). Click here for more information.

Barclay Press and Pendle Hill are collaborating on the Illuminate Summer Speaker Series, 2nd and 4th Mondays, June 14 to August 23, 7:30–9 p.m. ET via Zoom. Join us for a series of evening discussions with authors of the Barclay Press Illuminate Friends Bible study summer curriculum on Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians. Click here for more information.
