Leadership at Berkeley Friends Church is an opportunity for service, rather than an office that confers privilege upon the one who leads. Every member of the meeting shares responsibility in making decisions as part of the Monthly Meeting for Business, and we approach these meetings as opportunities to discern God’s will for us together. We come to individual decisions by reaching a collective “sense of the meeting” which is generally unanimous, rather than by voting.
Our current servant leaders include:
- Presiding Clerk (like the president of the church board): John Maurer
- Clerk of our Ministry and Counsel Committee (the church’s elders): Louise Neal
- Pastors: Micah Bales and Faith Kelley
